Dear College of Engineering Community,
After a lot of thought, I have decided that this academic year will be my last as Dean of the College of Engineering. At the end of the year, I’ll be stepping down from this role and returning to the faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
This wasn’t an easy decision. Being Dean has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my life. Since joining Temple in 1987 as an assistant professor, I’ve had the chance to grow alongside this College, and I’ve been incredibly proud to be part of its transformation. We’ve seen incredible growth in research, launched new programs like Bioengineering and Engineering, Technology, and Management, and created opportunities for students through partnerships like the one with Heights Philadelphia.
But what I’m proudest of are the students, faculty and steps that roam the halls of this college. It’s been a privilege to work with such dedicated faculty, staff, and students. You are the reason this community is so strong, and why the future of the College is so bright.
I want to reassure everyone, especially our students, that things will continue as usual. Programming, classes, and events will go on as planned, and I’ll still be here, active and involved every step of the way.
There will be a national search for the next Dean, and I’ll be doing everything I can to support a smooth transition. In the meantime, I just want to say thank you for your support, your collaboration, and your belief in what we’re building together.
It’s been the honor of a lifetime to serve as your Dean, and I look forward to continuing our work in new ways in the years to come.
With heartfelt appreciation and best wishes for your continued success,
Keya Sadeghipour
Dean, College of Engineering
