On Thursday, May 9, College of Engineering alumna Angela Ahmad will return to the nest as she delivers the 2024 commencement keynote address. 

Ahmad graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. She began her career first as a co-op with the Philadelphia Electric Company (now PECO), while simultaneously earning her degree and starting her family. After earning her degree, Ahmad continued the balance of being a working mother as she worked her way up the corporate ladder through PECO, Exelon corporate and BGE (Baltimore Gas and Electric) where she is currently. 

Angela has worked in over 15 positions at Exelon, using her engineering background as the framework to understanding the utility business, not just technically, but also overseeing proper safety practices and protocols in three Exelon Operating companies while also leading organizations from both electric operations and customer perspectives.

Currently the Senior Manager of Large Customer Services at Exelon, Ahmad manages the relationships of BGE’s largest commercial customers, making up over $600 million in electric and gas revenues. Her experience as a skilled electrical engineer supports the execution of utility services while her prowess in the business allows partnerships to cultivate with commercial customers as a strategic energy advisor. She has spent over thirty years in the electric utility industry. 

Making giving back to the community a priority, Ahmad has also served in leadership roles for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America and as a Judge of Elections in Philadelphia. She is also involved in the American Association of Blacks in Energy.   

She credits much of her success to the people in the College of Engineering for forming a nurturing and community-oriented environment that helped her through her studies.
